GOOD WRITING SOFTWARE
(in my order of recommendation)
•StoryView 2.0 - In my humble opinion, the single best tool there is for story development.
•Dramatica Pro - Dramatica is a “new theory” of story construction. However, in the end, it is so complex you need a software package to use it. I’ve had it for years and don’t use it regularly. Nevertheless, worth investigating.
•Movie Magic Screenwriter 6 - The software I currently use on both Mac and PC
•Final Draft 7 - Excellent script formatting software for both Mac and PC
•Scriptware - My first script formatting program. Frankly, I’d still be using it if it saved in more formats.
•Celtx - Celtix bills itself as more than script writing software. You can also storyboard scenes and sequences, develop characters, breakdown and tag elements, schedule production, and prepare detailed production reports. Best of all, it is FREE. The downside is a proprietary file format.
•Movie Outline 3.0 - Interesting integrated scriptwriting and story planning software.
